Scott Weston Director of Bid and Deliver explains what the new website is all about:
|
The website only launched on
2nd January and we have
already signed up 400 users
and have received a lot of
great feedback in just a
short period of time and we
are looking for couriers
throughout the UK to sign up
to improve their profit
margins.
Our website is split into
two halves, "I
need transport" and "I
have transport"
and in a nutshell allows
people who require goods to
be shipped around the
country to list their items
under "I
need transport" for
free, and then allows
transport companies or a
"man with a van" to bid on
delivering the goods under
the "I
have transport"section.
The website is aimed at
larger items which may have
been purchased on E-Bay or
from afar which are usually
difficult to transport and
may need the shipper to hire
a van or pay expensive
transport costs although we
do expect the main traffic
to be from items bought and
sold on e-bay.
Consignments of any goods,
for example: boxes,
vehicles, house moving,
general haulage etc: are
added to the website
including photos,
descriptions, sizes and
weights and pick-up and
delivery dates. These can be
as flexible as desired. Once
all the details are
completed the listing is
added to the website
awaiting bids from transport
companies or individuals who
are travelling the same
route and wish to increase
their load and therefore
their profit margin.
Transport companies can
search through the listings
on bidanddeliver in various
ways:
1: Desired route search by
entering point to point
towns or post codes, this
also allows you to enter the
desired amount of miles you
wish to detour from your
desired route to make a
delivery or pick up a
consignment.
2: General search to monitor
all consignments and all
locations listed.
3: Local route for
deliveries that are only
required to be delivered or
collected locally.
When a transport company
selects an item to view, all
details and a google map
will appear showing the
route and distance in order
to make the journey.
Bidanddeliver not only
enables people to transport
goods around the country at
far reduced rates due to a
competitive bidding system
but it also ensures vans and
lorries which are travelling
around the country are not
empty or half full which is
also far better for the
environment due to reducing
the amount of journeys
required when many vehicles
are all travelling in the
same direction anyway.
To recap, bidanddeliver is
better for the shipper who
add to their loads, the
lister who is getting far
reduced rates for shipping
due to the bidding system
and the environment due to
far reduced emissions.
All together we feel this is
ensures all parties who
register are getting
something from using our
website.
